Seeing as how tomorrow is 200 word Wednesday, I figure I should warm up a bit. So, a few poems or whatever are in order. These are some older poems of mine (old, as in from high school, don't expect anything incredible ;) from poetry.com
..... enjoy.
Cold Wind
you stand there on your strong feet
with your outstretched hand-
as if i should come to you,
and desert the tornado of leaves
rustling about my ankles-
my life fluttering in the wind.
should i give more of myself to you?
i look into your empty eyes,
and i realize there is nothing to gain.
loneliness surrounds me, yet i am unscathed-
i care no more about what you think
only that i feel no more pain
and i leave you with hand outstretched
and a storm of leaves in your eyes.

Dreamer
As I sit on the couch drinking my coffee
warm as the sunrise on a beach,
I daydream about the sand between my toes
and the salt stinging my legs as I walk
toward the dock.
I see the seagulls and smell the air,
sweet like creamer and salty still
The sun hurts my eyes as I realize
that I am only a person on a couch...
and I am no one extraordinary,
but a dreamer on a beach of sugar with
a coffee sea.

(this one's for heather)
you are the smartest person I know
and, as a good friend should,
you stay up late nights with henna
and syphil and ollie eating moosetracks
and praying that we'll never see high school
again
joking about bugs being firemen when they
grow old and reminiscing of times we'd rather
forget, but can't, so we keep reminiscing
worrying about old friends and gossip about
new and relationships with who and what
they've been doing since school
I can think of no one else I have done this
with or anyone I would rather remember
so know that of best friends, even if we
never meet again- I will forever have dreams
of tattoos and Cake.

(a piece of a poem...the best part)
To have loved with so much of myself,
and to have lost my soul-
surely this is a taste of my bitter eternity-
Infinitely lonely in a world free from love.
Alone, I know true misery
(michelle, the depressed high school student ;)

And, alas, a poem that is not mine.... but a favorite of mine:
INVICTUS William Ernest Henley
OUT of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
This is it for today... just felt like posting old poetry for You'uns to read. Tomorrow will either be some life-changing poetry or story... or more of the ever-popular Michelle bitch-fest crap. Luv to my Homies. Peace out. Btw, get people to read me, cuz now I'm on the ecosystem.. and I don't want to be a microbe. :(
